Martin and Marion Shirran
Martin and Marion Shirran GMB pioneers Martin and Marion Shirran opened their Elite Clinic in Fuengirola, Spain in 2004. They have dedicated most of the last decade to the research and development of their revolutionary weight-loss approach, the Gastric Mind Band Therapy®. Their method is unique, utilising a range of proven psychological approaches including their own take on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - recently presented at universities in both Portugal and Poland.
Therapy Development
Treatment Room 2 Having conducted more than 6,000 hours of dedicated weight-loss treatment sessions with clients from a number of countries, Martin and Marion are firmly established as leaders in their field, providing the "gold standard" in weight-loss treatment. They now divide their time between treating an exclusive group of private clients at their Spanish clinic, and providing training and accreditation for specialist therapists from around the world.
Publishing
Gastric Mind Band and Pause Buttton Therapy Books In 2012, the Shirrans signed an international, multi-title publishing contract with Hay House - world leaders in mind-body publishing. Their first two books, The Gastric Mind Band: The Proven, Pain Free Alternative to Weight Loss Surgery and Pause Button Therapy were published internationally in 2013. The academic world has also taken note of the Shirrans' pioneering work. A paper written by Dr Theano Kavanah and Martin and Marion Shirran containing research evidence demonstrating the efficacy of Pause Button Therapy for weight loss was presented in 2012 at the 1st International Conference on Time Perspective at Coimbra University in Portugal.

Recognition
Conference Professor Philip Zimbardo, Professor Emeritus at Stanford University San Francisco and co-author of 'The Time Paradox' and 'The Time Cure', expressed a particular interest in their work and wrote the foreword for the second edition of their book, Pause Button Therapy. They have recently been invited to present a second paper in conjunction with Dr Sarah Clarke at the 2nd International Conference on Time Perspective in July 2014 at Warsaw University.

Global Interest
GMB Therapists During recent years, global media interest in their work, including their appearance on the Good Morning America TV show has resulted in the Shirrans licensing a number of exclusive clinics around the world, each clinic providing their trademarked brand of therapy. Their approach famously incorporates their own Pause Button Therapy®, which has recently become the foundation of TactileCBT®.

Associations
Associations The Shirrans are both registered in the UK with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and are members of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy. Martin has a primary certificate in R.E.B.T. - "Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy", a form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, from Birmingham University School of Psychology. He is also a member of the United Kingdom Society for Behavioural Medicine, and the International Hypnosis Research Institute.
